What is the Digital Binder?
A Digital Binder is just as it sounds. You will have a binder full of organized content and documents, created and stored online, so they can be easily updated and shared. It is a digital blue print or map which will act as an instructional guide for your loved ones and Executor.
Why create your Legacy Plan online?
Understandably, if you are going to create a Legacy Plan, you have three options: hard copy, stored digitally but locally, and stored in the cloud. The software that we have partnered with really allows for all three options. The content is created online and can be printed or saved to a digital file. Given that a Legacy Plan will change over time, it is best to have the content created digitally. Those individuals that need to access will always have an easy way of doing so.
What if I don't want to store sensitive information online?
We recognize your sensitivity to having important information stored online. First, we do not recommend that you store certain types of information which are sensitive within the Digital Binder. The objective is that your loved ones have a map to where they can easily find that information, however you have chosen to safeguard it today.
Second, if you choose to put certain sensitive items in the Digital Binder, we have partnered with a software company that takes data security very seriously:
- All data at rest is stored with AES-256 encryption
- All data in transit is encrypted via SSL using 2048-bit certificates
- The company performs regular audits of the environments and code
- There are strict internal procedures prevent their employees from gaining access
- They offer Two Factor Authentication to protect access, which we recommend
- They maintain HIPAA Compliance
- They are Audited through a Type II Service Organizational Control 2 (SOC 2) Examination.
